His Beginning: William Jesse Scott affectionately called Jesse was born on Sunday, September 18, 1949 to the late William Thomas and Mabel Parr Scott. He was the oldest brother of Darryl Lysander, Lawrence Gordon, and Janice Natalie Scott. Jesse’s youngest brother, Gordon, transitioned at the age of 3.
Jesse was the eldest grandson of the late Irene Bell Bush who always looked out for him. Until their death, he received extra love and protection from his uncle and aunts, Lawrence Parr, Blanche Parr, Glorine Campbell, Thelma Holden, and Doris Woodall.
His Life: Jesse received his education from the Ralph Bunche School in King George, Virginia. Through his education there, he learned many skills to enable him to exist in life. Jesse along with his two siblings accepted the Lord Jesus Christ during the 1961 Annual Revival of the Little Ark Baptist Church and was baptized in the chilly Potomac River by the Late Reverend Dr. John W. Chapman, Sr. He remained an active member of Little Ark until health challenges prevented him from attending. Jesse served the Lord as a greeter and usher for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed attending Sunday School, Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School. Jesse loved the Lord and would be seen sitting in his room reading God’s Word. He studied to show himself approved by God.
Jesse attended the Woodrow Wilson Training Center in Fishersville, Virginia where he continued learning life skills. After completing the program there, Jesse was employed at several businesses (Holiday Inn and MWR COMO facility) as a dishwasher.
Jesse loved people! He enjoyed being around family and friends. He called and visited people in the neighborhood regularly. Jesse loved assisting his cousin with the children attending her daycare and occasionally took charge of them by himself. He loved children and knew the birthdays of his nieces and nephews as well as other family members.
Jesse was the life of the party and enjoyed dancing. He often accompanied his cousins to various locations where the music was playing loud and the floors were filled with dancing people. Jesse always made his way to the center.
His Ending: Jesse entered Mary Washington Hospital on March 31, 2025 for an evaluation of his high agitation level. Following four weeks in the hospital, Jesse was transferred to the Annandale Healthcare Center for rehabilitation. On Wednesday, May 28, the Lord called his child home. He is at peace!
His Memories: The following individuals will forever cherish the time spent with Jesse: His brother, Darryl Lysander Scott, and his sister and primary caretaker, Janice Scott Williams (Ralph); seven nieces and nephews - Marcia, Machelle, Wanda, Angela, Ernest, William, and Charlene; 23 great nieces and nephews; two great, great nieces; one great, great nephew; one uncle, Carroll Bush; two aunts, Liza Parr and Maranda Bush; and a host of many, many cousins and friends.
