In Loving Memory of Gloria Mae Tolliver (Woolfolk)

"Miss Ann"

1935-2026

With deep love and fond remembrance, we celebrate the life of Gloria Mae Tolliver, affectionately known to many as "Miss Ann", who passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, at the age of 90.

Miss Ann was born June 17th, 1935, to the late Alfred Woolfolk and Onie Fields Woolfolk. She was the last surviving sibling of eleven children, carrying the legacy of her family with grace and strength. Miss Ann accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Reedy Baptist Church until her health declined. She devoted her time and heart to her church home, serving as a missionary, singing in the choir, and being a member of the hospitality committee, as well as a trusted trustee. She was educated in Caroline County, VA, and retired from the Hanover County Public School System. During this time, she and her granddaughter, Alicia, made many memories riding to Oak Knoll Middle School together.

Miss Ann was a vibrant, sassy, and outspoken woman who lived life with flair, humor, and a heart full of love. Known for her sparkle - both in spirit and in her fondness for bling - Miss Ann brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She LOVED flowers and was very meticulous about her yard where she worked hard every year planting various flowers, buying new flower pots and ornaments to beautify it. Miss Ann also loved her house wit hall of her knick knacks and where everything had a place. Whether she was tending to her beloved flowers, bargain hunting at yard sales, or enjoying a good game of bingo, she lived with style and boldness, never afraid to speak her mind.

Miss Ann was united in marriage to Collis Tolliver in August of 1952. Collis was working for his father delivering ice when he stopped at the Woolfolk residence, where he said he saw the "prettiest young lady he had ever laid eyes on". He asked her mother for permission to take her on a date, which ultimately led to him asking for her hand in marriage. They were married for 48 years until his death in 2000.

Miss Ann leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her four children, Kathryn Tolliver, Gloria Bryant, Wesley Tolliver (Adreania), and Lisa Boone. She was a devoted grandmother to eight grandchildren - Tonya, Wesley Jr., Torri, Bryan, Tiffany, Franklin, and two she helped raise as her own, Alicia and Ryan. Her legacy continued to grow with 22 great-grandchildren, and she was deeply blessed to meet her very first great-great child. She had a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Miss Ann held a special bond with her niece, Clara Scott; her nephews, Kenan Brown and Melvin Robinson, who preceded her in death; her great-granddaughter, Emery Boone; her cousin/bingo buddy, Debbie Tunstall; and her devoted friend, Ernie Brown.

Miss Ann was the cornerstone of her family - a guiding light whose strength, sass, and unfiltered wisdom left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her warmth and sharp wit brought people together, and her love ran deep and true.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice in the rich, beautiful life she lived and the generations she nurtured with her love and care. Her memory will continue to blossom in every flower, every sparkling trinket, and every shared laugh among loved ones.

She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
