Donald F. Beverly, 76 of King George County, entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at his home.
Don, as many of his close friends and co-workers called him, was born on October 29, 1948, in Fredericksburg, VA. He was a 1966 graduate of Ralph Bunche, King George, VA and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Virginia State College, known now as Virginia State University.
At the tender age of six (6), he joined the Union Bethel Baptist Church, King George, VA, and was a member of the Usher Board and Board of Trustees. After moving away from home, he joined the New Dawn Baptist Church, Newark, NJ, where he also served on the Board of Trustees. Upon completing his education and returning home, he later moved his membership to the Antioch Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board, Male Chorus and Men’s Organization until the declining health of his wife.
Don was known for his many skills and talents. He obtained employment with Ford Motor Company in Metuchen, NJ, as an Analyst in the Production Control Department. A part-time Certified Diesel Mechanic at John’s Sunoco, Metuchen, NJ and a Night Shift part-time Head Mechanic at Charlie’s Garage in Newark, NJ. Upon completing his education and returning home, he accepted a position and retired as a Line Supervisor at Philip Morris USA (Altria Group), Richmond, VA. In addition, he also owned and operated a Construction Company specializing in land management, carpentry, roof repair, and deck installation/repair which can still be seen around the King George and Fredericksburg, VA area.
In 1978, Don joined the Free and Accepted Masons, Lodge #314. Don was also a Boy Scout Master for the Seventh Ward in Newark, NJ.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen M. Beverly and Uncle, Nelson Beverly. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bernice N. Beverly; one daughter, Donna K. Beverly (Girrard) of Hampton, VA; two grandchildren, Brenden D. Jackson and Breonna A. Jackson of Hampton, VA; one bonus grandson, Breon L. Delk of Newport News, VA; one Sister-in-law, Ruby Cassidy; two Brother in-laws, James Baylor (Shiffon) of King George, VA and Thomas Bundy (Jane) of Columbia, Maryland; one first cousin, Larry Beverly (Sylvia) of King George, VA, and a host of relatives and friends.
