Alfred E. Harrison

Deacon Alfred E. Harrison was born February 21, 1937 to the late John Jasper (Jake) and Jennie Hayes Harrison in Washington, DC and entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA.

Alfred received an early education in Washington, DC and King George, VA

At an early age, he joined Salem Baptist Church where he was baptized. He was an active member at Salem until his health began to fail. He served faithfully on the Deacon Board, Men’s Choir and attended Sunday School.

Alfred was known as Al to his friends. He was an extremely good baseball player for the Virginia All Stars of Jersey, VA and an amateur boxer in Washington, DC.

Alfred was Past Master (PM) of King George Lodge #314, King George, VA. He worked as a Crane Operator for many years in construction.

On June 7, 1958, he was joined in holy matrimony with Joyce Brooks. Out of this union two children were born. After 63 years of marriage, Joyce entered eternal rest.

He was preceded in death by his son, Duane Harrison, three brothers, Phillip, William, Sr. (Lightning) and John Jasper (Blim) Harrison, Jr.; five sisters, Henrietta Jones, June Virginia (Tilven) Smith, Charlotte Harrison, Shirley Harrison and Pauline Fields.

Alfred will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by one son, Keith (Kathleen) of Fort Worth, TX, two granddaughters, Kaila and Keira also of Fort Worth, TX, godson Kendrick Curtis and goddaughter Briana Thompson of Waldorf, MD; one brother, Walter Harrison (Linda) of Hyattsville, MD; one sister, Paulette Dorsey (Preston) of King George, VA; one sister-in-law, Marsha Brooks of Fredericksburg, VA; his niece and caregiver for the last four years, Barbara Harrison and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Life is but a stopping place. A pause in what’s to be. A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different paths along the way, we all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay. Our destination is a place far greater than we know. For some the journey’s slow and when the journey finally ends, we’ll claim a great reward and find an everlasting peace together with the Lord.
